I just got back from a forensic document conference in Dallas Texas. The conference was 3 days of lectures, classes and mock trials, all of which were focused on training students in the field of Forensic Document Examination. Don Lehew, Dr. Joe Alexander, Bob and Scott Meister as well as others, teach and mentor the up and coming Forensic Document Examiners.

Dr. Joe Alexander - spoke on developing a document lab from scratch, (which included, tools of the trade. such as a stereo microscope, jewelers loupes, magnifying glasses, the Mi scope a digital computer microscope, copy stand, and digital cameras), and fax and fundamentals.
Don Lehew - gave us some drills to hone our skills and what to do if there was an opposing expert.
Senior Students and Graduates
Bob Baier - spoke on creating a professional court displays and jury books.
Bob & Scott Meister - gave a magnificent presentation on electronic forgery detection and the concise technique for forgery detections.

Mock trials were set up with closed real cases. The freshmen were jurors while the other senior students and faculty played the expert witnesses, lawyers, judges etc.
I found it totally amazing the amount of knowledge that I obtained from just three days. Everyone who taught a class was very knowledgeable and approachable. What a great weekend!
